ADMINISTRATIVE ZONES 3 OF THE AFAR REGION

Administrative Zone 3 (since May 2006 known as Gabi Rasu) is one of five Zones of the Afar Regional State- Ethiopia. This zone is bordered on the south by the Oromia Region, on the southwest by the Amhara Region, on the west and north by the Administrative Zone 5, on the east by the Somali Region.

THIS ZONE IS ADMINISTRATIVELY COMPOSED OF SIX DISTRICTS.

1. District of Amibara
2. District of Awash Fentale
3. District of Buri Moodayto
4. District of Dulassa
5. District of Gawani
6. District of Argubba

POPULATION

In 2005 the CSA estimates 195.000 people (107.000 men and 88.000 women). And 27% of the population is urban and 73% of them living in rural areas. The Awash River flooded the area periodically during the rainy season from June to September.

 

Administrative Zone 5 (since May 2006 known as Hari Rasu) is one of five Zones of the Afar Regional State. It is stretching along the eastern base of the Ethiopian highlands; this Zone is bordered on the south and east by Administrative Zone 3, on the west by the Amhara Region, and on the north by Administrative Zone 1. Administrative Zone 5 (formerly known as the "Sultanate of Dawe ).

 

ADMINISTRATIVE ZONES 5 OF THE AFAR REGION

THIS ZONE IS ADMINISTRATIVELY COMPOSED OF FIVE DISTRICTS.

2. Dawe
3. Talalak
4. Komami
5. Hadale Ela

POPULATION

In 2005 the CSA estimates 250.000 inhabitants (200.000 men and 150.000 women). And 15% of the population is living in urban areas and 85% of them living in rural areas.
